Into The iPod and Back Again

My wife's iPod (aka my old 15 GB 3G iPod) had a hard drive failure shortly after the one year warranty expired. I bought a new hard drive, thinking it would be a cinch to replace. Wrong. Getting into an iPod is rather hard. Some Googling turned up a method using guitar picks and it worked! Installing the new 15 GB hard drive was easy. The only problem now is that our music collection has grown beyond 15 GB (99 cents at a time)!

Seth Dillingham pointed to an artist I hadn't heard before, Scott Andrew. It turns out he has a blog, which I guess shouldn't surprise me given that he's:

"the author of the XML-RPC JavaScript Message Builder , one of only a few browser-based XML-RPC javascript libraries"

Scott points to a nifty idea at http://www.upcoming.org/. My favorite place to hear music here in central PA is the Whitaker Center but, despite multiple e-mail's from me, they don't yet have an rss feed for new shows (or even e-mail announcements, for that matter). Upcoming.org gives me a way to enter upcoming concerts. Very cool use of rss.

Wow. I guess I really like this album.

One of the neat things iTunes does is keep track of is how often you've played a track. Allison Kraus and Union Station released a new album this week titled Lonely Runs Both Ways. I bought it Wednesday via the iTunes Music Store, and I've already listened to it 14 times! Alison, Dan Tyminski, Jerry Douglas, Barry Bales, and Ron Block do themselves proud.
